One Glory of the Sun excerpt
Let’s start the Podcast with Paul’s description of the Third Heaven.
1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. (2 Corinthians 12:1-4)
I suppose it would be understandable if us lesser mortals were envious of Paul’s experience. Certainly, a vision of heaven would make us all strive to go there. But we are left to ponder his words and glory in the description of light rather than in the light itself.
We can assume, I suppose, that the third heaven experience by Paul is the same as the heaven envisioned by John as recorded in Revelation.
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
(Revelation 21:1-7)
We learn from John, in Revelation Chapters 2 & 3 the conditions that must be met in order to inherit the third heaven, To him that overcometh will I give
1. to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
2. thee a crown of life.
3. to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
4. the morning star.
5. white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6. a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
7. to sit with me in my throne
