Info
With a concert harp and guitar at the forefront, The Callen Sisters' sound is rootsy, yet ethereal & infused with a certain pop sensibility. Their influences include Fleetwood Mac, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos & The Beatles.
Born in the quiet art center of Westport, Massachusetts and currently living in New York City's backyard, Beth and Jessa have been bandmates since childhood. They formed The Callen Sisters band in New York City in 2006 after graduating from SUNY Purchase.
Jessa and Beth's 2007 self-released debut "The Callen Sisters" has won them fans, accolades and radio play, most notably in Harp Magazine and on Radio BBC in Wales. Their new songs speak of love, abandonment, fathers and daughters, London, San Francisco, canyons and even body image. The songs are laced with delicious pop hooks, lots of harmonies, and textured arrangements featuring strings and horns. This second full-length collection of songs is due out in the Fall of 2010.
