Darcy Fray has a flair for the dramatic. From seductive synth-beated rhythms, to somber guitar-soaked vistas, Fray provides a intoxicating update on atmospheric, UK-style space-pop that continues to make believers of the curious. Beginning in 2002 in the very un-UK surroundings of a Los Angeles bedroom, Fray got off to a promising start with the self-release of the "Speak and Spell EP" which was welcomed as a blast of freezer air, cool crisp and bracingly refreshing...ice-queen voice...brittle drum-machine backing and occasional bouts of brutal shoe-gazing guitar (Jennifer Kelly - Splendid Magazine).

THE FIREBALL EP
by Marcel Feldmar
Fireball is, as the title suggests, high energy pop rock keyboard mayhem, but with very sweet hooks and a very guitar oriented swing into pop, It slightly reminds me of "Third Eye" by Red Kross, but that's just the first song. The second drifts into a more mellow Pink Floyd feel, but sparser and more on that indie rock tip. There's hints of a devil may care glam attitude, too: "Throw on the wigs and make-up and let's just rock", comes out sometimes, and the harmonies are beautiful. It feels like five songs aren't enough to figure this one out, though I'm going to definitely keep trying.
