Ep 112. Activating Your Autonomic Nervous System Part 1 (Parasympathetic Nervous System)
The Autonomic Nervous system acts primarily unconsciously. It's components include the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS), the Sympathetic Nervous System and the Enteric Nervous System.
In today's episode, we discuss all things regarding the Parasympathetic Nervous System. The PNS controls the "rest and digest" reactions, IE salivation sexual arousal, digestion, urination and defecation. It is also responsible for slowing down our heart rate and blood pressure.
Dani also share's her experience with COVID-19 and how she took the time to rest, recover and how she will return to physical activity.
It's important to pay attention to our body's state and to know how to stimulate the PNS in times of high stress and activity. Some interventions include diaphragmatic breathing, mindfulness physical touch and sensory deprivation (a quiet environment).
