What is God's grace and why is it so difficult to understand?
Grace is completely contrary to our human culture. We like things to be fair. God gives us grace without any regard to our behavior. To some, that may seem unfair.
The theological definition of Grace is unmerited favor. It's being rewarded even when you don't deserve to be. Even more, it is reward without any regard for our behavior whatsoever.
God gives us benefits in spite of and completely without regard to our behavior. If that weren't so, we would be earning salvation rather than receiving it--and that is contrary to salvation through faith. Sure we do good things - hopefully because of gratitude toward God for all he has done for us, but that is not why we receive the benefit of a relationship with God and eternal life.
