Late-diagnosed Autism in women and peer support (GET REAL Summer Series 2022)
Send us a text
Over summer, we’re revisiting some of our favourite GET REAL episodes.
Peer support and lived experience is going to be an important way to reform mental health services in Australia, and in Victoria, these changes are already underway.
People like Jessie Aiton, who you’ll hear in this episode, have invaluable experience to share, especially about seeking help for mental health and navigating the system. Jessie’s story is about finding help for her mental health that eventually led to an autism diagnosis in her mid-thirties. It’s changed her life and Jessie is a passionate advocate for other women and girls who are autistic.
You can find out more about Jessie at her website The Lost Girl and her “Have a Cuppa with Me” peer support service.
