#9 - AUTHENTICITY AND TRANSPARENCY
It is in our nature to believe that we can and should hide our flaws or shortcomings for fear that others may think less of us. This belief can have us wearing masks for every area of life. Essentially, “protecting” the real us inside so no one can get a glimpse of who we really are.
Living this way can create unnecessary stress because we have to work very hard at staying “undercover”. It only increases our insecurities making life even more difficult. This kind of façade is exhausting and phony.
Although it may go against your former beliefs, I want to challenge you to think a bit higher on this one. The truth is, we tend to have a lot more trust and appreciation for those who own up to their shortcomings and gracefully accept that they are flawed, even laughing at themselves. The reality is that people can identify more with those who are less than perfect, than those who pretend to be.
Giving yourself permission to be you, sets you free! It also opens up new possibilities for expressing yourself, which can lead to better relationships, new job offers and many other amazing things.
Make it your goal to be the best version of you every day, ignore the critics and stop trying to be someone else. Just BE REAL!
“Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process.”
― Anthony Robbins
