Kerusso Daily Devotional - Defender of the Faith 3
We think of a “defender” as a muscular guy wearing a suit of armor. He raises his sword and takes swings at the enemy.
A defender can be that guy. No question. But a defender of the faith is simply a person who loves Christ enough to share Him with others, and answer questions along the way. The truth is, a defender of the faith can be a serene grandmother, or a mild-mannered accountant. It could even be you!
Our Defender of the Faith series focuses on what it means to stand up for your Christian faith.
Jude 1:3 says, “Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.”
The reality is, we live in a fallen world, and not everyone has kind things to say about our King. Some people are skeptics. Others really challenge our faith, and because others are watching us, it is necessary for us to be alert and watchful.
Don’t feel inferior if you don’t regularly wear armor and do battle for real. Christ made you the way you are, especially for the time and place you live. When it comes time to defend the faith, you’ll be ready.
Let’s pray.
Lord, help us stay engaged in the fight to share your Gospel with a hurting world. Amen.
