Bullying is a thing today. A big thing. With social media making such a surge in our culture, it has mushroomed in ways no one could have foreseen. The Bible tells us that at some point, love among people can grow cold. It’s then that humans display some of their worst traits.
We can’t often fight bullies alone. And a bully can take many forms: a person, like a co-worker. Maybe a job itself. A financial speed-bump. Or your own sense that you are just worthless. That last one is a real killer.
Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”
Our series this week, “Friend,” speaks to the absolute necessity of having that one friend you can count on no matter what.
Friend, have you considered the claims of Jesus? He promises big things, including the fact that He will literally never leave you. Have you ever known anyone like that? He has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
And when the Bible tells us that a friend is born for adversity, it’s really telling us that Jesus comes into your life at precisely the right time, ready for any issue you are facing.
Let’s pray.
Lord, if we think about it, we can’t come up with a time when you abandoned us. Thank you for being the Ultimate Friend.
