The War in Heaven Pt II
In this podcast we shall address the questions:
1. Where was the battle fought?
2. Why was the battle fought?
3. How was the battle fought?
4. How was the battle won?
We are taught in the Book of Revelation:
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 12:7-9)
We learn that Satan lead the offense and Michael led the defense. We know that Satan and his angels lost, and Michael and his angels won. We also learn that Satan and his angels were cast out of heaven. In a previous verse, we are given a few more facts.
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: (Revelation 12:4)
The “stars o heaven” refers to the sons and daughters of God. Since we are all his children, we were those morning stars. We were all brothers and sisters in heaven. A third part followed Lucifer which leaves two-thirds part to follow Michael. Lucifer and his third part were cast out.
That raises a question. If Michael led the battle against Lucifer, where was Christ? Why didn’t he lead the battle? The answer to that question is extremely important. But before answering the question, let’s examine the nature of Lucifer.
Lucifer was also a child of God, once in high favor. Isaiah tells us,
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. (Isaiah 14:12-20)
