#17: Freelancing in a Trailer Across North America with Tina Eaton
"Using a hair-dryer or charging her laptop? Shower first or washing dishes? These are the daily realities of living full-time in a trailer traveling across North America. While the idea of quitting your job and moving into a trailer to travel full-time sounds incredibly magical, the reality is not all that glamorous. Freeing indeed, but a pain in the ass logistically and emotionally. Tina Eaton became an “accidental freelancer” after she and her boyfriend had quit their jobs and sold most of their belongings to move into a trailer and travel full-time. A traditionally trained journalist, former editor, and marketing professional, Tina had definitely not prepared herself for everything that’s about to hit her in this “dream life… No mailing address, re-learning how to do daily tasks with less, waking up in a Walmart parking lot with rotten food because of dead propane tanks, installing solar panels, energy saving practices and the logistics of trailer waste management are just some of her daily worries. “I think I’m a better person for my time spent in this trailer,” writes Tina on her blog. While life on the road management is “figureout-able,” the inner demons she has to deal with are much harder to tackle.
