We interview Fartun Mohamed Ibrahim, Maritime Security Officer with UNSOM, about the main issues deliberated during a recent conference on Women in the Maritime sector held in Mogadishu. She also discusses how the UN supports initiatives aimed at promoting the role of women in the maritime sector in Somalia.
We also interview Sagal Abdirisak Abdullahi, Head of Gender at the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transportation of Somalia. She gives an overview of how the government of Somalia supports the role of women in the maritime sector as well as the challenges they face in doing so and how these are being addressed.
