Stephen King's 1979 tv film adaption Salem’s Lot is discussed. Several scenes of misogyny trigger Dana and Kip. Some of the men are trash but it's 1979 so what can you do? They both have different experiences of what southern hospitality is yet share the same childhood Bible memory. To satisfy Dana's need for backstory, they make up one for the characters of Eva and Weasel. This film raises many questions:
What is the tail of a gate? (tailgating)
How did they get the dog crying sound effect?
Does King portray black characters in only lowly, servant positions?
Would you abandon your young sibling in the woods running from certain danger?
Mark Petrie has a very cool bedroom full of curious macabre collectibles that remind Dana of her friend James Freeman & his Wife Kate from Freeman & Fugate Oddities Co. in Atlanta. Check them out on Instagram and Facebook!
