2/2: Massive winter storm is threatening 90 million, all the way from New Mexico to Maine. The FDA may soon authorize a vaccine for kids as young as six months.
Nearly one-hundred million Americans are under winter weather alerts right now -- stretched across more than two-thousand miles. The storm is making for dangerous road conditions in states from Colorado to Illinois. Hundreds of flights have already been canceled. Pfizer has asked for FDA permission to make its COVID vaccine available for kids as young as six months. If authorized, children could start getting the first of two doses by early march these doses contain just one-tenth the amount adults get. Turning to some sad news from Virginia -- where a gunman shot and killed two campus officers at Bridgewater College yesterday. The suspected gunman has been arrested and charged with capital murder. Police have not released a possible motive. This happened the same day as another deadly school shooting -- this one outside a school near Minneapolis. One student was killed and another seriously wounded. Two people are in custody. The U.S. is sending more troops to Europe amid the growing tensions over Russia's military buildup near Ukraine's borders. CBS News has confirmed that about two thousand are going to Germany and Poland from North Carolina. And around one-thousand based in Germany are being deployed to Romania. President Biden is talking about potential nominees with Republican senators, including minority leader Mitch McConnell.
