Ep. 85 - Andrew Has Pitchfork in Hand But Is Not Ready to March Just Yet
This week, Andrew, Rex and Craig examine the Hall of Fame baseball writers' vote that saw David Ortiz just over the 75% vote for induction with Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa, to name three, falling short in in their final year for eligibility. We discuss that trio's possible path to induction as well as this year's six veteran's committee selections. Hooks & Runs reflects upon Jack Powell, the only pitcher in the top ten in career MLB losses that is NOT in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The show concludes with the trio riffing on Ted Gioia's essay in TheAtlantic.com, "Is Old Music Killing New Music?" Spoiler alert! We answer "yes!" but old music has a lot of help.
