The final episode of series 26 broached many interesting ideas by Rona Munro, who later returns to Doctor Who in 2017's story, the Eaters of Light. Both stories play around with ideas about bravery, divides among cultures, traditions, languages, species, etc. Ace returns to her hometown, and it is not a hero's welcome.

Imagine, many people think this is a weak story to go out on, but actually, the story question's toxic masculinity, challenges the viewer with the idea that sometimes it takes more strength not to fight, and what defines the progression of a people. I don't know about you, but the Doctor stating: Somewhere there is injustice, somewhere there is Tyranny, and somewhere else, the tea is getting cold. C'mon Ace, we have work to do. Sorry for paraphrasing. Too lazy to look up the quote. But if that is not Doctor Who, then I will just be wrong about the matter.
