This week I am joined by Sophie Smith. Sophie is a recovered eating disorder advocate and uses her experience to raise awareness. Sophie joins us to discuss her experience of orthorexia, and how she is using her experience to support others.
In this weeks episode, Sophie joins us to discuss her personal experience and how her eating disorder developed. We discuss things that occurred during her childhood which may have impacted the development of her eating disorder. We also discuss Sophie's twin, and the similarities and differences between the two of them that may have affected eating disorder development.
Sophie is currently completing a master’s degree in social work and is training with the Carolyn Costin Institute to become an eating disorder recovery coach. Sophie is a speaker with the Butterfly Foundation in Australia. We discuss the advocacy work that Sophie engages in, and the impact of the health and wellness culture on the development of orthorexia.
Finally, we discuss the role of Sophie's eating disorder in her career, and how she ensures she remains recovered and uses her experience to support others and herself.
