Medical Marijuana with Drs. Suzanne Tinsley and Janine Hatch
In this episode, Drs. Suzanne Tinsley, PhD, PT and Janine Hatch, PT, DPT, MS come onto the HET Podcast to discuss the area of medical marijuana and help us understand how this drug interacts and affects patient outcomes.
Biography:
Dr. Hatch holds a BS degree in PT from New York University, and a Master’s and Doctor of PT degrees from MGH-IHP with concentrations in balance disorders in the elderly and clinical management of vestibular disorders. Her thesis research at MGH-IP garnered the APTA Dorothy Briggs Award in 2002. She earned her Geriatric Clinical Specialist Certification in 2009 and recertified in 2019, and became a Certified Vestibular Therapist through Emory University in 2016.
Dr. Hatch has 26 years of teaching experience in both entry-level and post professional doctoral physical therapy programs. She is currently the Associate Director of the Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Shenandoah University, with teaching responsibilities in Professionalism in Physical Therapy and the Capstone courses Emerging Clinical Practice.
In her 31 years of clinical practice, she has had extensive experience managing adult clients with musculoskeletal conditions, balance and mobility disorders, and vestibular dysfunction across the spectrum of clinical settings, and is currently practicing at the Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital.
Dr. Hatch has authored a number of publications on balance and vestibular dysfunction, has presented at both a regional and national level, and is a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy and the American Journal for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Tinsley received her Master’s in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 1986 and her PhD in Neuropharmacology from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport in 1999. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport. Dr. Tinsley teaches medical pharmacology in the School of Allied Health Professions, School of Graduate Studies and School of Medicine.
Dr. Tinsley is an APTA Board Certified Neurologic Physical Therapist and has presented nationally at APTA conferences as well as numerous continuing education seminars on the topic of pharmacology and rehabilitation. She currently serves as Chair of the Stroke SIG, Neurology Section, APTA. She has an active clinical practice in the area of neurological rehabilitation as well as an active clinical research agenda.
