Matt Bee - 'This kid's not going to last five minutes!'
Matt Bee admits first impressions were not on his side when he was given the head coach role of Burnley Women back in 2016, at the age of just 22.
Although the team was then in the fifth tier of women's soccer in England, it was still a gamble to appoint someone so young.
"I distinctly remember people's faces when I first walked in," he said. "I remember them looking me up and down, probably thinking 'this kid is not going to last five minutes'."
But Matt was not a callow newbie. He had already been coaching for five years, honing his craft as a teenager in Australia before returning to England and beginning his climb up the ladder.
He has since done the same for Burnley, leading them to two promotions in the five years he has been in charge.
SCW caught up with Matt, now 27, to talk about his coaching journey and how he won over the older members of his squad...
