NEWSFLASH: "The Language of Emoji" report is out!
Did you have a chance to listen to Season 2, Episode 33? It was called “The Language of Emoji,” and I got to interview Holly Silvestri, an experienced translator, interpreter, and founding member of the American Association of Interpreters and Translators in Education. Holly talked about her research paper on the subject, which was titled “Recommendations Concerning Digital Communication Using Emoji in Legal and Medical Interpreting.”
Well, the research paper has been published by NAJIT, the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators. As promised after my interview with Holly, I’d let Translation Confessional listeners know when the paper would be available to readers, so check this episode’s description for a link to read this fascinating paper on the role of emoji in contemporary interactions and some observations on how we, language professionals, should address emoji when facilitating communication.
