Mackenzie Holmes grew up in the gym, thanks to not just one but two parents that coached the game she was born to play. Speaking of two, “Mack” would lead her high school team to back-to-back state championships and go on to win 2019 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year.
Mack never imagined she would attend school so far from her hoops-crazed hometown and family, but after a fateful encounter with IUWBB Associate Head Coach Rhett Wierzba, she fell in love with Indiana and everything Coach Teri Moren and her program had to offer.
Since then individual accolades have poured in… Big Ten All-Freshman Team, Academic All-Big Ten, All-Big Ten Defensive Team, All-Big Ten First Team, NCAA All-Regional Team and now Indiana's first AP All-American Honorable Mention.
More importantly to Mack, she and her teammates have taken IUWBB to a level never before seen, last season just being one win away from both a Big Ten title and a Final Four birth, reaching the first Elite 8 in program history in last year's electrifying NCAA run. And they ain't done yet!
