No player holds a bigger place in the hearts of Hoosiers everywhere than Landon Turner. The All-American out of Arsenal Tech oozed with potential but constantly found himself in Coach Knight’s doghouse, finally putting it all together his junior year to help lead IU to the 1981 National Title. Expectations for Turner’s final season skyrocketed, and many predicted he was destined to be a top pick in the NBA Draft. And then tragedy struck. A car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down and a brilliant basketball career was over in an instant. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, Turner soon found new meaning in his life, and began to spread that meaning to all he touched. Now, almost 40 years later, his message of love, joy, determination and belief is more important and more powerful than ever.
