The story of Joe Arridy is one of sadness, ignorance, and shame. Joe was a severely intellectually disabled man, charged for a heinous crime committed against sisters- Dorothy and Barbara Drain. Woven throughout this tale were major cracks in the justice system (including coercion & false confessions), as well as inhumane terminology from the late 1930's.
