Sermon Summary:
The first eleven chapters of Acts there is a repeating pattern of the Holy Spirit performing signs and wonders through the apostles, they are persecuted for doing these things in Jesus name, they preach Jesus as King is the face of that persecution, and the church grows and as a result. The core message gave birth to the gathered church was to assemble under allegiance Jesus as the new supreme authority in their lives. This “kingdom people” enjoyed the fullness of life afforded to those submitted to the true King. Our understanding of church can often miss the deeply “political” nature of assembling. As we gather under the authority of Jesus the world is shown what a Kingdom ruled by Jesus looks like here and now.
