The Truth about Mental Illness + Mental Health with Samuel McDermott
Let’s have the conversation- Mental Illness and Mental Health will not be considered taboo topics in church anymore. It’s time to become aware of these topics so we can better navigate these issues many are facing. Many times we mistake mental health issues with mental illnesses. Also in our society mental health and mental illness are taken for granted and not properly dealt with. On today's podcast, we are having an eye-opening conversation with Samuel McDermott. Samuel has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Counseling and Psychology. He is currently a clinical psychologist for the Ministry of Health. Samuel shared the difference between mental illness and mental health. He shared that it is okay to seek help and also mention many organizations out there to help persons that are plagued with mental issues. Even as a Christian, you can seek counseling whether from a pastor who is a trained counselor or even other Christians who are certified professionals. This is a conversation we don't have very often, especially as believers but it is a sensitive but serious issue that needs to be taken care of carefully. I encourage everyone to listen to today's episode, be educated on these issues, and share with someone who might benefit. God bless you!
