Christ's Invitation to Pray

On the Sixth Sunday of Pentecost, in our Gospel reading from John 16, we hear the sweet words of our Savior inviting us, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you… Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (Jn 16:23–24). With these words, my brothers and sisters, our Lord invites us to do something that should be at the very core of our Christian lives: our Lord is inviting us to pray.
