Nick tells us the tale of two marathons. With twenty years between the two, they were like night and day. Granted, both marathons were 26 miles, the reasons and the results were very different. You would imagine that at 21, Nick would complete a marathon much easier than age 41. He was in excellent shape, watched his diet, and worked out regularly. Hell, he wouldn’t even have to train, right? Oh, how very wrong that thought process was. Nick’s egotistical naivety had him hitting a wall at mile 16 and barely making it to the finish line before collapsing. Fast forward 20 years, Nick decides to run 26 miles a week to honor his late father, culminating in a marathon on his dad’s birthday. Nick may not have been stronger than 20 years before, but he was smarter. Nick put in the work and the effort to get the desired result.
