On Thursday, October 6, 2016, 51 year old Harold Brown and his pet boxer Jinger, were reported missing. That afternoon, a group of hunters found a red Ford F-150 on a private drive near Skidway Lake. The truck was unoccupied, but was running with the driver’s side door open. When the truck hadn’t moved five hours later, police were notified. The truck was confirmed to belong to Harold Brown, and his body was discovered by a dive team in Rifle River near Skidway Lake two days later. Michigan State Police have determined Harold died of an accidental drowning, but his family remains convinced that someone he knew is responsible for his death.
Anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the death of Harold Brown is asked to call the Ogemaw County Central Dispatch at 989-345-9911.
