There’s something extra special about speaking with someone who has both *made* black history and is *making* black history.
That’s Ruth Carter.
The Oscar-award-winning Costume Designer Ruth Carter who’s responsible for the style storytelling of sooooooo many iconic, culture-shifting films that it feels weird just naming a few but I’ma do it anyway like Black Panther + Malcolm X + Do The Right Thing.
Recently, I zipped my ass on to ATL for a few hours to interview Ruth(What a high-spirited woman!!!!!) and her dear friend/collaborator Meera Manek in celebration of Ms. Carter’s new collection with H&M which is fire. All obvious everything.
Have a listen as I ask Ruth about how both her blackness and femininity have influenced her craft, becoming a historian through costume design, how to find/trust your voice and more.
Hope your enjoy! xx TG
