As a listener of The Ziglar Show I know you are a more “aspiring” person than the norm, as are our other listeners. So how do we all rate ourselves in our endeavors? In show 727 I talked with Neil Pasricha whose latest book, “You Are Awesome” just debuted as the #1 international bestseller. He asks why in our culture today where we have more conveniences and amenities than ever, are we playing it safe. It was from this I asked the Ziglar audience, “In your job or business, on a scale from 1-10, how would you rate yourself for playing it safe (1) or totally going for the gusto (10), and why?” Let me tell you this, we only had two people rate themselves as a 10, and we had plenty of threes and fours. I had Neil join me to co-host this Q&A and as usual, the comments and my guest’s responses were just profound. You’ll come away with a better understanding of your own propensities and why you may be going after things in one area of your life, and not others. He explains the very real role of “cognitive entrenchment” I believe you will very much resonate with. Neil also expounded on the issue of following our passions and made this brilliant comment that flies in the face of having work that is all fun and play, he said the point is finding work “You love so much you’ll endure the pain and punishment.” Absolutely. This was as solid a show as I’ve ever done regarding relevant issues we are all dealing with today.
