The Benoit family lived on Main Street, in Kingston, Ma. Melissa was an eighth grader at a local catholic school. The family had suffered a tragic loss of the Dad, Richard Benoit. On September 15, 1990, Melissa visited a friend in the afternoon and then paid her respects at her dad's grave, she was struggling with that life altering loss. She walked from the cemetery and was never seen alive again. The FBI and the Kingston Police were soon alerted and one of the largest searches in Massachusetts history was soon undertaken. The investigation eventually focused on Henry Meinholz, a neighbor who lived fifty feet from the Benoit family. Meinholz was a deacon at a local church and he taught Sunday School. Thirteen year old Melissa Benoit was soon found in a shallow grave. She had suffered unimaginable horror at the hands of this "neighbor". Kingston would never be the same again.
