Josh Hart went full Vesuvius, erupting for a career-high 44 points in the Portland Trail Blazers win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday. It ended a six-game losing streak for the Blazers who hadn't been within single digits of anyone since the All-Star break. Hart missed six shots. He was absolutely bonkers. Even amidst a super aggressive tank job it's okay to appreciate a fun win over now and then, and the Blazers finally got one of those thanks to Hart and a career-best 27 points from Trendon Watford.
There's some roster news to discuss as well, as Anfernee Simons is out for 1-2 weeks with mild patellar tendinopathy in his left knee. With Simons out for at least a few games and probably more, the Blazers added veteran point guard Kris Dunn on a 10-day contract. Dunn hasn't played much since the 2019-20 season but is a low risk insurance option that has some defensive upside. Drew Eubanks also inked another 10-day deal, his third such short-term pact with the team.
Finally, Joe Cronin has been ultra aggressive in tearing down the Blazers in a short period of time. Let's take a moment to appreciate a man willing to take a massive risk on a team that had become stagnant.
