For a guy who isn't on the floor right now, Anthony Davis made a lot of headlines Sunday. First, he indicated progress in his work to return to the floor following a badly sprained ankle. Out of the walking boot, and expressing belief he'll be back before the end of the year. Then, Davis said he thought the Lakers would have beaten Phoenix in the first round of the playoffs last year had he not been forced from that series with groin injury. And that the Suns know it, too. Even if you agree, and many people do, does saying so help the Lakers now? (It certainly didn't Sunday.) More importantly, what did Davis reveal about this team's approach and mentality? Still, that he might be back in time means the Lakers still have hope, improbable as it may be.
