Ann Brier & Eric Miller were college sweethearts that met at Purdue University. After graduating in 1992, the two moved to Raleigh, NC. Eric received his PHD in 1998 and instead of accepting a "big pharma" job with a huge salary, he decided to get a federal grant to do research on pediatric AIDS research.
Ann always wanted the flashy lifestyle, and instead of finishing her PHD, she got a job as a scientist so she could afford the lavish lifestyle Eric's salary wasn't providing.
November 15, 2000, Eric and Ann were out with some of her work colleagues bowling, including Derril Willard. He drank a beer that was given to him by Willard and soon because violently ill. He was rushed to the hospital with a severe case of "Food Poisonings" that baffled doctors. It kept him out of commission for more than a week.
6 days after his hospital stay, he was eating dinner with Ann when he again became violently ill. She rushed him to the hospital and after blood tests found that he had been poisoned with arsenic.
2 days later, on December 2nd, Eric Miller was dead at 30 years old.
