The Trail Blazers lost to the Atlanta Hawks 122-113 on Monday night. Josh Hart went off for 25 in the first half, Trendon Watford had another nice game, and the Blazers were competitive on the road before fading in the final four minutes. It was a perfect game for this team. Entertaining, close and ended with a loss.
Watford had his third straight 20-point game with agains the Hawks, finishing with 22 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. He has taken tremendous strides over the last month or so and looks like he could be a contributor. But that's the question, Watford is playing a role that he'll likely never have again in the NBA. If his role was scaled back by roughly 80% could he still be effective. Probably but that offers a good guide for watching the Blazers rookie the rest of the season.
To close the show we bounce around the bottom of the standings to check in San Antonio, Sacramento and Indiana and see where Portland stacks up in the race to the bottom of the standings in the pursuit of better draft odds.
