44: Part 2 - A Blank Slate God (ft. my soulmate)
This is part two of the soulmate chat on embracing how much our beliefs and the way we tell the story around them can change over time. We go over the arc of my soulmate’s religious/spiritual narrative, the pressure in religious spaces to reconcile with family regardless of toxicity and abuse, the way that organised religion tends to struggle with consent across the board, trusting your gut over religious counsel, faith in individuals over systems, questioning at what point a system has caused too much damage to fix it rather than tear it down and start fresh, the importance of maintaining spirituality even outside of religion, the effects of really trusting yourself as the narrator of your story, the spiritual practice of consistent and gentle reflection, the way religious spaces often give us an extremely limited range of ways to emote in and engage with our relationship to the divine, the creation of our own canons as we navigate our relationship to spirituality, and more.
