We're talking about everyone's favorite acronym. Traded Player Exception. That's right it's TPE time, y'all. The Trail Blazers have a roughly $21 million traded player exception that they acquired in the traded that sent CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans. It's an exception that could allow the Blazers to swing a relatively big trade, one of their most valuable assets for improving the roster this summer. But it's not that simple as they need to find a willing trade partner.
In today's show we run through the basics of the TPE. What it is, how it works, how the Blazers can use it and then we search out targets around the league that Portland could pursue using their TPE and possible a draft pick if needed. Jerami Grant, Christian Wood and Jonathan Isaac are all names to know, but we scour the entire league and talk about the ins and outs of NBA deals and why certain teams might be more willing than others to make a trade with what Portland has to offer.
Oh yeah and also the Blazers lost an absolute sham of a game against the Thunder. We talk about that too.
