Good friend of HHAUSA and Air Force Veteran Kyle Mindiola joins us on this week's episode. Meeting Kyle in Warrens at one of our shoots two years ago, who knew that we would become such close friends?
A shared passion for the outdoors has led him and a group of likeminded archers to form a new nonprofit organization, Archery Origins. Focusing on personalized instruction, Mindiola and his team are sharing their love of the sport with beginners interested in making archery a way of life. While the program features six weeks of "classroom" time, it can be done at the participants own pace with the end goal of adding new, lifetime archers to our ranks.
From target shooting to heading to the field to harvest game, Archery Origins is a grassroots organization that at its heart, is looking to better the lives of their members. As it grows, they plan to have "alumni" return each year to share their experiences as well as become mentors for incoming students. We are excited to see Kyle, his team and class at our events this summer across Wisconsin and look forward to the impact that they will have in the years to come.
We also discuss Mindiola's role in the third film of the HHAUSA film series that will debut in July at Mission 20 in Appleton. Struggling with PTSD from his time as a fire fighter and then in the Air Force, he's part of a new wave of Veterans and First Responders wanting to share their stories. This selflessness, as painful as it may be at times, has helped bring healing to those both hearing and sharing the stories. I can't say enough about the courage of men like David Wootten, Chad Stillman, Kyle Mindiola, Ryan Lonergan, Tyson Trunkhill and others to follow that are baring their souls for the world to see in hopes of saving lives. They all continue to serve long after they too off their uniform for the last time and we are honored to be serving alongside them now on the HHAUSA mission.
