I've been a fan of intermittent fasting for years and have read books, asked experts, googled my heart out, 'researched' and put to the test my findings to the best of my ability with great results and satisfaction. However... it stood out to me that the vast majority of this information was being presented by men, for men. Nothing against men and the information they present however it too often left either a gaping hole (at worst) or a poorly constructed disclaimer (at best) when it came to how fasting applies to women, our hormonal cycles and menopause.
Dr Mindy Pelz was quite the find on this topic, if I was excited before we met then I was 10 x excited by the time we finished this episode. The information presented covers the science around our hormonal cycles and how fasting interacts with what our body produces and to what effect. I fire some of my burning questions her way also to discover the ideal protocol for fasting for body composition vs fasting for strength or athletic performance, when does autophagy kick in and what enhances or disrupts autophagy, if females don't take our cycle into account is it better to fast 16:8 consistently (like blokes do) or avoid fasting at all?
