Episode 40: Carter Check: VA Chaplain & Creator of HunTherapy

Christian, father, husband, US Army Veteran, archer, outdoorsman, whitewater rafter, chaplain...Carter Check wears a lot of hats! The Wisconsin native now living in the land of the Sooners, Check was an absolute joy to talk to on this special Good Friday edition of The HHAUSA Podcast.

From his time serving our country as a Cav Scout to successfully navigating clients through deadly whitewater rapids, this man knows a thing or to about danger and taking care of people. It's that heart for helping others that has led him to ministry, coming alongside Veterans and First Responders struggling with PTSD. Drawing from his own life experiences, his faith and just being available to listen, Carter is saving lives through his work.

Experiencing the physical and mental benefits of archery has given birth to HunTherapy, a program Check is currently writing that will further assist those in need of a healthy outlet and assist in suicide prevention.  Getting outside and focusing on a new mission, archery, rafting, hiking, anything to get you moving, has proven to be life changing for those he serves.

Not wanting to spoil too many of the details of this great conversation, Carter and I seemed to always circle back to our faith and how it is at the center of the work that we do each day. Clocking in as one of the longer episodes in our short history, we hope that our listeners will be as captivated by the chat as we were and look forward to hearing more from our new resident chaplain down the road!
