Experts caution against forcing employees who are working from home to return to the office
Following the suspension of the COVID 19 emergency, companies across South Africa are now rapidly demanding a return to work of all employees. While corporate leaders might consider it their prerogative to get all hands physically back on deck at the office again, a leadership expert is cautioning that they should be aware of the consequences of a top-down, inflexible approach. Advaita Naidoo, MD with Africa at Jack Hammer Global is concerned that enforcing return-to-work ultimatums could result in a company not only losing good employees and developing a resentful, toxic workplace, but also in failing to attract quality talent down the line.
