1. ACTS (includes confessional prayer)
a. Prayer for Adoration/Blessing
b. Prayer of Contrition/Repentance/Confession

Or PRAY
a. Praise – Praising God for who he is
b. Repent – humbly acknowledging your sin before God
c. Ask – Asking God to provide for your needs or needs of others
d. Yield – an act of submission to his will in your life
2. Personalizing Scripture – insert yourself or someone else into its context
3. Corporate Prayer – coming together to pray as a group (usually has a purpose)
4. Prayer journaling/prompts
5. Prayer thru song & worship – praying the lyrics or pray while you worship to that song
6. Prayer Walks – praying over a specific location
7. Praying the Psalms – select a Psalm to communicate your thoughts
8. Praying the Scriptures – similar to above but with a larger pool to select from
9. Intercessory Prayer – commitment to fight spiritual battles in prayers & inviting God in
to help
10. The Lord’s Prayer
11. Silent Prayer – conversation with God and conversations go both ways
12. Fasting – prayer is usually part of fasting as one gives up the time it takes to eat &
prays instead
13. Fixed-Hour Prayer – set specific times to pray each day, make God that center of your
schedule
14. Inner-Healing Prayer – until you bring your wounds to God, you will never experience
true healing
15. Listening Prayer – focus on hearing what God has to say to you
16. Liturgical Prayer – pray someone else’s words over yourself vs. using your own words
17. Prayer of Lament – expression of sorrow, anger, suffering, frustration to God.
18. Visio Divina - similar to praying with icons but on a broader scale. Praying with eyes

19. Centering Prayer – meditative, sit in the presence of God and allow him to be the
center of everything in your life
20. Contemplative Prayer – similar to above but focused more on abiding, be with
Jesus/God.
21. Conversational Prayer – unique form of corporate prayer in which a group takes turns
praying beginning with a focus on a specific topic
22. Prayer Partners – share passion and accountability between 2 people
23. Prayer of Recollection – focused on laying aside distraction to focus on God
24. Welcoming Prayer – prayer that invites God into every area of your life
25. Praying with Icons – prevalent in historical churches but not used much any more.
Many historical churches had painting on walls called icons which were representative
of different theological principles. Congregation would think on those paintings as
they prayed and use them as a means to better understand God.
