The One Where We Find Out The Year Is At Least 1888. The Wisdom Of Solomon S3 Ep 18
Solomon Henry has only one desire and that's to get an education. And he's willing to runaway from home to do so. Runaway to Mankato and hop onto a wagon that, just by chance, belongs to Charles Ingallas who brings young Solomon to Walnut Grove. It's a different world not only for Solomon Henry but also for the population of Walnut Grove....because Solomon Henry is the first Black person to arrive in Walnut Grove. And overall, the town and school are very accepting of Solomon. Late one night Solomon's older brother shows up to bring him back home. But a reluctant Solomon shares that since starting school he can write his own name, read, and even do some figuring. But, it makes no difference to Solomon's brother or even Dr. George A Tann, a reservation doctor, what Solomon is learning because in the world in which they live, for them, it will make no difference. Realizing his dreams of an education may not even lead to any opportunities, Solomon is left with a choice to either continue on this path for education or to head home and help out with the family farm. How far did Solomon walk to get himself to Mankato? Is Charles happy he is not the only guy at Plum Creek for the moment? If Laura is such a friendly person....why do all of her new friends end up disappearing?
