3 big ideas discussed in this episode:
- Superheroes, although fictional, demonstrate amazing leadership qualities. We can learn tons, leadership wise, from Superman, Optimus Prime, and Captain America (to name just a few).
- There are two types of leadership lanes: those who grew up with leaders around them and wanted to model them because they got a taste firsthand. Those who severely lacked leadership growing up and who hungered for solid leadership and direction and who sought it out relentlessly. I am a product of the latter.
- People who buy comic books are, consciously or not, seeking to be empowered. They admire those characters and wish they could be like them. The demographics of comic book buyers point, generally, to those who were not necessarily favored with good leadership models growing up (think absent or neglectful fathers). Bottom line: Comic book buyers are often in want of leadership and / or solid role models - like I was growing up.
