In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman talk with performing artist, teacher, and clown Gemma Soldati! Born in Somersworth, Gemma has recently returned to the Granite State and she brought with her incredible talent, drive, and a great sense of humor. Gemma is a literal clown, but it’s probably not what you’re picturing. Her clown-inspired work is developed in front of live audiences as she explores the themes of grief, ritual, sleep, dreams, and more.
Don’t be fooled — Gemma is fueled by nerves. She finds it helps to remember that the audience loves her — that’s why they’re there! Gemma loves to win over a tough audience member and communicate tough concepts we don’t talk about. This episode is full of brilliant, funny, and inspiring gems. And it all started when her mom hired a comedian for a party at their Somersworth home back in the day.
