How to Make Botanical Incense | Featuring Jiling Lin
This week’s Herbal Radio podcast corresponds with a recently released blog post and video tutorial by our good friend, Jiling Lin. A licensed acupuncturist, herbalist, and yoga teacher, Jiling poetically walks us through the process of making our own botanical incense using a Traditional Chinese Medicine incense formulation, Xiao Yao San (逍遙散) or “Free and Easy Wanderer”. In Jiling’s words, “making our own incense provides a tactile connection with the land, medicine, and our bioregional terroir. Mixing and shaping incense by hand, we reconnect with our indigenous roots of shaping the earth, building rituals, and serenading our ancestors with songs carried on spiraling smoke”.
