The Cubs dropped the first of two in the Crosstown Classic in a wet one at Wrigley Field. The White Sox scored two unearned runs in the second inning and then Tim Anderson added another in the third with a homerun into the right field bleachers. The Cubs scored later in the ballgame, making it 69 consecutive games the Cubs have scored a run, but came up short in the end. Keegan Thompson shoved again, allowing just one run in 3.2 innings pitched in the bullpen day for the Cubs. The Cubs will try to split the series tomorrow back at Wrigley Field.
