Hate Watching The Bubble

Great comedies are hard to make. They take great casting, great script, great premise, great direction, great cameos. Tropic Thunder was one of those movies. The Bubble is not. Everyone in the cast was great...in other movies. But the biggest issue is that this movie doesn't know who it is making fun of. Is it making fun of actors being privileged? No, it wants us to sympathize with what they go through. And thus there is no room for comedy. And don't get me started on Kate McKinnon. She is very funny but in this movie as in others, they think they can just give her crappy lines and she will turn them to gold. Well that does not happen. You have to do the work to get the laughs and the Bubble phones it in from beginning to end (except for Gus Khan - that guys a hero).

Hate Watching is the show that has the time to waste watching the waste.

Dukes of Hazzard was a weird show. The boys were bootleggers and shot arrows that had dynamite on them. They had an uncle and the local Mayor was a criminal who was sort of helped by sheriff and deputy. I guess int eh show they helped people who were begin abused by the law. Oh yeah and the boys had a super hot sister who also did stuff? TV is kid of amazing in the shows that resonate and survive. I'm sure when they put this on TV, no one knew it would be a hit. But it resonated in a weird way. Filled some niche that no one really knew needed to be filled. And that is life. We are all searching for that niche to fill. sometimes we find it and sometimes not.
