Episode 87: Howl's Moving Castle (2004)

This week at The Film Club we're kicking off ANI(MAY) Month with a Studio Ghibli classic, Howl's Moving Castle. The film tell's the story of Sophie who works in a hat shop and keeps to herself but one day on a walk to meet her sister she is harassed by soldiers and a wizard comes to her aid. This wizard is Howl, all the girls in town crush on him but rumor is he eats the hearts of pretty girls. This kind gesture from Howl sets off a series of events which leads to Sophie being cursed by a witch and ultimately needing Howl's help to break the curse. Meanwhile war is going on but Sophie must find Howl, and she is lead to his magical moving castle. It turns out Sophie isn't the only one needing saving Howl needs to be rescued too. Can Howl and Sophie break the curse? Or is the curse too strong? Join us as we dive into the world of Howl's Moving Castle.
