In Episode 1172, Sean Woodley goes solo to review the season of Toronto Raptors star rookie Scottie Barnes. Off the top, Sean discusses his biggest positive takeaway from Barnes' Rookie of the Year-winning campaign, which is simply that he's clearly on the road to stardom, and a type of stardom that doesn't really have a close comparable. Don't put Scottie in the corner, because as he showed in his first season, he can wear all sorts of hats and wear them fiercely. Next, Sean takes a look at the three areas Barnes needs the most improvement in, including his on-ball defense, the three-point stroke, and his understanding of the limitations of his teammates, all of whom are decidedly not Scottie Barnes when it comes to seeing plays before they happen. Lastly, Sean's Stat of the Year for Barnes is his shooting percentage from inside 10 feet, which should be replicable going forward considering how unguardable Barnes can be onces he gets into close range. For the Barnes Play of the Year, soon looks back at Barnes' own look back dunk against LeBron James at Scotiabank Arena. Lastly, Sean takes a look at what to expect from Barnes in year two. Can he tick up his usage? Will he be the best player on the Raptors by the end of 2022-23? Sean addresses those questions and more.
